DESCRIPTION
"Potato Plucks Plumage" is a remarkable oil painting by the Australian artist Robert Ricov.
.
A cherub rests atop a protesting peacock. The bird screams as the cherub plucks an unwilling feather from it.
That little angel, with golden wings and the ability to fly, taunts the majestic bird for lacking in these qualities.
Although the peacock is famous for its beautiful plumage, the cherub reminds the bird of its place by drawing attention to its superficial decoration, which may serve to attract but provides no means of escape.
Thus, the cherub, commonly considered a benevolent being, is, in fact, a petty tyrant who takes pleasure in revealing unpleasant truths.

It wasn’t until a few months after that he realized how profoundly this experience affected the direction of his work.
