BIOGRAPHY
A Mind for Machines, A Heart for Art
Juan José Peirón Miguel was born on May 1, 1967, in Barcelona, where his parents had moved from central Spain in the 1960s. At the early age of 8, it was discovered that Juan José had a high aptitude for mathematics. When he was 10 years old, the family left Barcelona and moved to Tarragona for work-related reasons. It was in Tarragona that he spent his adolescence and early adulthood.
At 18 he began studying Industrial Engineering. Juan José is an Industrial Engineer specializing in Mechanics. After completing his degree, Juan José began his professional career at an engineering company, where he eventually led a team of 20 people. During this time, he managed projects for major clients such as Boehringer Ingelheim, Deutsche Bank, Ciba Geigy, Telefónica, and others.
At the same time, he also worked as a lecturer at the School of Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Barcelona (UPC), where he taught Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Industrial Heating and Cooling. He held this teaching position for four years.
In 1996, at the age of 29, he decided to join MECO, a small mechanical workshop owned by his father. In the year 2000, Juan José and his father jointly developed a new type of machine tool. Today, their high-tech, patented machines are present in 32 countries, serving major clients around the world. MECO’s machines have received several awards for technological innovation in Spain and are considered reference products in the sector, leading the Spanish market.
Currently, Juan José is the CEO of MECO INDUSTRIES, and he balances his professional and family commitments with his passions: painting, sports, and travel. Many of the machines manufactured by MECO start with a hand-drawn sketch by Juan José.
It was Fátima, his partner, who recognized the artistic potential in these sketches and encouraged him to explore this creative path. Juan José began his journey into painting with her support. After creating many portraits for family and friends, as well as other figurative works, he moved into the field of abstract painting, which is what truly inspires and fulfills him.
His abstract work is a harmonious blend of color and form, of geometry and strength—with and without volume—with passion and life… all aimed at reaching the soul.
