DESCRIPTION
When it rains, the world begins to blur - but in this artwork, it's not drops that dissolve the lines of reality, it's a mosaic of hexagonal cells. They swarm like honeycomb across the surface, shaping the soft, luminous face of a woman whose gaze seems distant, almost dreaming - not resisting the rain, but blooming within it. Each hexagon becomes a pixel of emotion, a hand-painted whisper of light or shadow. Though the structure evokes digital patterns, the surface is tangible, sculpted with textured paste and imbued with a living presence. This work walks a tightrope between contrasts: synthetic and organic, geometric and emotional, almost virtual - and yet deeply human. Blue reigns supreme, not as coldness but as a melancholic melody. Light flickers across her features like water on skin. And in the folds - subtle, shimmering rainbows appear, quiet symbols of hope within the storm. This portrait is not just a face. It is a state of being. An inner rain. A moment where the world holds its breath.
 
BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST
Nadiya Spiller (born 28 July 1979 in Donetsk, Ukraine) is a Berlin-based ophthalmologist and contemporary artist. Originally trained as a medical doctor in Donetsk and Dresden, she has worked in ophthalmology in Germany since 2007 and became board-certified in 2021. In 2025 she earned her doctoral degree from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
Alongside her medical career, Nadiya has pursued art since receiving the title Artist of Ukraine in 1997. In 2021 she developed her distinctive pixel-texture painting technique, which has been exhibited in Cairo and Berlin, including the solo shows Timeless Pixels (2022) and Art as a Weapon (2024).
She speaks Ukrainian and Russian natively, is fluent in German, and has good command of English. Nadiya lives in Berlin with her husband and three sons.
