DESCRIPTION
This artwork explores the concept of grids, which are present in our virtual world. Although we don't see them, they are there to be the structure that sustains reality. Along with the use of symbolism and mandala aesthetics that express my inner world, I construct an image in which I align my way of seeing a grid structure that aligns my spiritual vision.
BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST
María José Escárraga Torres (b. 1995, Colombia) is a Colombian architect and emerging visual artist based in Valencia, Spain, where she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Artistic Production. Her work explores the intersection of spirituality, symbolism, and contemplation, developing a visual language rooted in introspection and inner awareness.
Initially inspired by the study and creation of mandalas, Escárraga has expanded her practice from drawing on paper to paper sculpture and installation. Drawing on her architectural background, she investigates space as both a physical and metaphysical experience, working with elements such as light, shadow, and void to create immersive and contemplative environments.
Her practice seeks to open spaces for reflection, inviting viewers to engage with the relationship between material form and spiritual perception.
