DESCRIPTION
This self-portrait reflects the vulnerable, often hidden experience of menopause.
 
In this painting, I documented my experience of starting Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).
 
My torso is fragmented, mirroring the disjointed reflection I saw in the mirror. Colourful collaged plastic represents the estrogen patch and the traces it left on my skin, making central what is usually concealed.
 
I framed the painting in neon yellow plastic to further amplify the patch, making it the star of the painting.
