DESCRIPTION

Death is inextricably linked to life. The topic of death has interested me since my youth due to my interest in the ancient Egypt and the Mexican way to deal with death, and as a Viennese I grew up with Mozart`s music.

The photo was done at St. Marx Cemetery which is now a park in Vienna's 3rd district and famous as the original burial place of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST

The artist has been creative since her youth starting with artistic presents for her family and

friends, creating jewelry and designing clothes for herself. During her study stay in Lagos,

Nigeria she was co-owner of and designer for a lingerie production. But only her partnership

with a cameraman and photographer brought her to the actual art in 2003 and taught her an

enhanced vision. She then loved it to stroll through the world with her eyes open to see,

perceive, and absorb as the artist defines it. Often, it's the everyday little things like the

marbling of meat, a nail, dried coffee grounds in a cup, etc. that created images in her mind

which she later on implemented in reality. She had her first exhibition with her partner in

Vienna in 2004 followed by a few more, but soon separated herself from her partner as well as

artistically. In 2011 she created her first shoe sculptures, concentrated on art and was discovered

and promoted by an art historian who recommended her to the former Museum for Fantastic

Art in Vienna. The museum showed artists of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. The

founder of the museum at that time continued to support the artist and several shoe sculptures

were added to the permanent exhibition. This was followed by collaborations with two curators

and two Viennese galleries which showed and sold her art worldwide e.g in different

European countries and the USA. Since 2023 Elvira Rajek's art has been curated by Musa

International Art and has been shown e.g. in Rome, Barcelona, London, Seoul, Paris, etc.
