DESCRIPTION
"Pandora with a Candle" is an oil painting depicting the eponymous portrait thinking about its essence in an introspective way, in which the viewer holds out a lit candle towards Pandora.
 
This last hand gesture could be that of her husband, Epimetheus, toward Pandora. This work is inspired by "The Virgin of the Rocks" by Leonardo da Vinci (1483/1494) and "La Madeleine à la veilleuse" by Georges de La Tour (1642-1644).
 
This painting briefly traces the myth of Prometheus, brother of Epimetheus who fell in love with Pandora, created by the will of Zeus, illustrated through his magical square of Agrippa. The background of this painting is his inner quest.
 
The pictorial realization is in glaze and sfumato, which allowed me here to represent this background in a vaporous, soft form, where the gesture of the hand that stretches the candle takes its turn and warms Pandora's cold face. I wanted to express my quest for my essence of autistic Asperger."
