DESCRIPTION
One of the three miniature works — two portraits and one abstraction — are united by a poetic reflection on marine atmosphere.
Executed in watercolor with light graphic ornamentation, they explore the fluid transitions between figure and element.
Watercolor’s natural liquidity becomes part of the concept, allowing forms to drift, dissolve, and reappear. These intimate pieces carry a sense of quiet experimentation — a sensitive dialogue with the medium and its aquatic nature.
 
BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST
Natalia Nik (Nikulina) is an artist and illustrator based in Budapest. She holds an MFA in Illustration (Children’s Book Emphasis) from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco (2020, Cum Laude), and a Master’s degree in Art Styling from the Faculty of Applied Arts, Moscow (2000).
Natalia works primarily in digital illustration, often combined with watercolor and colored pencils, creating a playful, whimsical style that reflects an optimistic view of life. She also has extensive experience in book design and layout, bringing projects from concept to print-ready files. Natalia is open to artistic collaborations across illustration and design.
