BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST
Sofia Simoes, born in Lisbon in 1970, is a Portuguese artist specializing in drawing, painting, and mural restoration. She studied Decorative Painting and Mural Restoration at the Ricardo Espírito Santo da Silva Foundation and later completed Drawing and Painting studies at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Lisbon.
Throughout her career, Sofia has worked extensively in decorative painting and has restored murals in private residences, churches, monuments, and hotels across Portugal, Spain, and the United States. Encouraged by friends and professionals from the contemporary art world, she eventually expanded her practice into contemporary painting.
Since 2010, Sofia has exhibited widely, participating in major art fairs and group shows, including Arte Lisboa and ARCO Madrid and presenting numerous solo exhibitions in Lisbon, Cascais, Estoril, and Sintra. Her work continues to be featured in cultural centers, galleries, and design venues throughout Portugal.
