BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST
Hans Jörg Rickenbacher, known artistically as Ricki, was born in 1954 and has lived in Läufelfingen his entire life, truly an “Ur-Läufelfinger.” Originally trained as a carpenter, he later completed a second professional education as an architect. In his youth he was an avid mountaineer and even began mountain-guide training before choosing a different path.
 
Art and culture have always played a central role in his life. While he started with acrylic painting and drawing, he eventually returned to hands-on, material-based creation. After a period working with metal, Ricki found his way “back to the roots” to his true element: wood. For nearly two decades he has focused on creating monumental wooden sculptures, which he ceremonially dedicates to fire, a unique artistic process that has become his passion.
