DESCRIPTION
The awesome "Witness I: Edition Two" is one of the latest Oil Paintings by Ghanaian Artist Sara Black.
 
In “The Witnesses,” your gaze is drawn first to the background before the figures in the foreground reveal themselves.
 
The central figure, seemingly familiar with the scene beyond, gazes inward while others, younger and more curious, peer outward, captivated by the world outside their space.
 
This juxtaposition reflects the duality of travel and the diverse experiences it encompasses.
 
On the train, individuals from different backgrounds come together briefly, sharing a moment of connection that wouldn’t happen in their everyday lives.  
 
BIOGRAPHY
Sara Black (née Sara Owusu-Ansah) was born in Accra, Ghana, in 1995.
 
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, in 2019.
 
Shortly after, she began her National Service at the Savannah Center of Contemporary Arts in Tamale.
 
Unfortunately, due to illness, she had to conclude her service early.
 
In 2021, Sara continued to pursue her passion for art from home while preparing for her master’s studies.
 
Her dedication paid off when she gained admission to the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, Germany, where she graduated with a Postgraduate degree in 2023.
 
Despite facing significant challenges, including losing her father in 2023, Sara has successfully participated in several exhibitions and international residencies.
 
Her living room studio has been the birthplace of many of her creations. Currently residing in Germany,
 
Sara is a full-time artist and freelance English teacher, committed to making her mark in the art world.
