DESCRIPTION
The image was taken just a few days ago. The entire day had been oppressively hot and humid, with a heavy sky.
Now and then, brief showers drifted through. Toward evening, the sky erupted in breathtaking shades of rose, red, and orange. It looked as though the clouds themselves were beginning to melt, softly dissolving as the sun sank lower.
The accompanying poem speaks of this inner melting, of softening, of slowly giving in. The print is a signed 1/1.
BIOGRAPHY
Born 1985 in Nuremberg (Germany) living in Roethenbach an der Pegnitz, near Nuremberg education: Studies in Communication Design, Diploma in Photography artistic focus: Photography and writing
STATEMENT
I photograph and write. Nature is the protagonist of my images. I capture its vitality, poetry, darkness, and beauty in my photographs.
Since 2019, I have been capturing moments — impressions I encounter on my daily walks in the forest or while looking out the window or into my garden.
Many of my photographs are created in my immediate surroundings, as I am often unable to leave the house due to a limiting health condition. One of my series is therefore titled Out of MyWindow.
It gathers impressions from nature, my garden, the forest outside my window, and the sky above my home. With my photographs, I explore the borderlands between what is visible, what is felt, and what is imagined.
Varying qualities of light create an atmosphere of poetry and dreamlike presence. The shift between sharpness and blur — created by applying grease to the lens — intensifies the perception of color and renders the uniqueness of a fleeting moment all the more visible.
My photographs are not meant to turn the viewer into a distant observer of nature — but into a part of it. I don’t want to depict a tree. I want the viewer to feel what it was like to see the tree in that very moment. To feel the essence of the tree — the idea of the tree.
